Republicans outraising Democrats in Nassau County NY

Tue Jul 29, 2008 at 07:49:19 AM PDT

Former Republican machine stronghold now governed by a Democrat with the Deamocratic majority in the county legislature.

County Executive Suozzi ran against Spitzer in the 2006 primary. He may run again. I wonder why he isn't generating more fundraising power for the Nassau County Democrats.

Newsday just had a brief articile about it.

Thank You Obama for not campaigning ....

Thank You Obama for not campaigning on Rape allegations against Bill Clinton

Was that a ever a possiblity?

I can't believe the number one diary includes the rape allegations against Bill Clinton.

This would be bad for Hillary in what way?

She married a rapist!

I can't vote for her.

Hillary has had two primaries and two general election campaigns in New York. Never once did any of her Dmeocratic or Republican opponents bring up rape allegations against Bill Clinton.

Oral arguments are over and it looks like people will have a guaranteed right to own a gun but what kinds of guns are up in the air.

Condescending pats on the head for Hillary

Thu Feb 21, 2008 at 01:55:11 PM PDT

She will not be Senate Majority leader. I am not a fan of people posting things that they do not really support. DailyKos endorsing Hillary for Senate leader? So she can bring to the Senate floor war resolutions and anti-Iran resolutions.

Scott Pelley does weird time-warp story on Iraq

Mon Jan 28, 2008 at 05:56:11 AM PDT

Isn't the time for triumphalist stories about American brilliance in Iraq or some kind of "let's dance on his grave" stories about Saddam a little weird now? The report by Scott Pelley had a weird 2003-2004 feel if you can get grasp my meaning.

NYT Editorial on Second Amendment case

Wed Nov 21, 2007 at 05:49:23 AM PDT

The most interesting part is this

Beyond grappling with fairly esoteric arguments about the Second Amendment, the justices need to responsibly confront modern-day reality. A decision that upends needed gun controls currently in place around the country would imperil the lives of Americans.

PA Gov Rendell forcing debate on Gun Control ETA Beaten by NRA Gun Nuts As expected

Mon Nov 19, 2007 at 08:32:28 AM PDT

In a move that would send shivers up the spine of many Democrats in DC Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, a Democrat, is pushing a bill that would make it easy for local areas to pass gun control laws stronger than the state as a whole. Read the whole article

An angry Rendell, clenching his teeth and pounding the lectern so hard it rocked, on Friday implored lawmakers to take guns out of the hands of thugs to protect citizens and police. The governor's passionate outburst came on the heels of the murder of Philadelphia Officer Chuck Cassidy.

Will the Supreme Court take Second Amendment Case

Mon Nov 12, 2007 at 01:47:23 PM PDT

According to the New York Times click hereThe Supreme Court may decide tomorrow to take the case about whether or not DC's handgun ban violates the second Amendment. The second Amendment states "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." What the DC court said was that the "militia" was just one of many possible reason why all people are given the right to bear arms.

In the appeals court’s view, the clause simply highlighted one of the amendment’s "civic purposes."

Massachusetts Congressional Race today

Tue Oct 16, 2007 at 01:30:22 PM PDT

I have not seen an entry for this since the 12th. Was Niki Tsongas not the netroots candidate? I don't remember the primary. Journalists are just foaming at the mouth about how their narrative might be upended by liberal Massachusetts sending a Republican, and a conservative Republican, to the House.

Here's several articles.

A Ray of light for the GOP

ETA TSONGAS WON 51-45%!

That's a relief
